Trenton eliminated with 4-zip loss to Penticton at RBC Cup
The Trenton Golden Hawks have been officially eliminated at the RBC Cup in Cobourg.
Nicholas Jones had a goal and two assists, helping the Penticton Vees to a 4-0 win over the Trenton Golden Hawks in the only game at the tournament on Wednesday.
The victory means the four teams who will play in the semifinals on Saturday are set – the Vees will join the Cobourg Cougars, Brooks Bandits and Cobras de Terrebonne in the final four.
The match-ups for the semis will be decided in the final preliminary-round games Thursday.
The Golden Hawks struggled during the entire tournament, and their offence completely disappeared over the past few days.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the second intermission against Terrebonne on Sunday night, Trenton was outscored 15-0 over its final seven periods of play.
