School suspensions in Quinte Friday
Several hundred students in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties could be suspended from school tomorrow.
The students have had several months to get their immunization records updated, and Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health Program Manager Bill Sherlock says proof of the vaccinations must be provided by this afternoon.
The health unit issued about 4400 notices to students in January they needed to be protected against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles and a number of other illnesses, and 500 to 600 were still outstanding as of today.
Sherlock says Public Health is holding immunization clinics in Belleville, Trenton, Picton, Madoc and Bancroft today and again tomorrow..
The health unit will inform schools this afternoon how many students will have to be suspended, as of tomorrow, because they are behind on their vaccinations.
