Prince Edward County man charged after police chase
A Prince Edward County man faces several charges in connection with a police pursuit that started in Picton.
Prince Edward O-P-P officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Main Street at about 11:30 on Wednesday night when a pickup truck accelerated through the intersection at Bridge Street.
The police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away, passing other vehicles in the process.
Officers found it a short time later on County Road 6, just north of the town, but the driver tried again to flee, but was quickly arrested.
Fifty-two-year-old Jackie Vaughan of North Marysburgh was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, flight from police, racing a motor vehicle and driving a vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor.
The truck was seized, and will be held for seven days, and Vaughan's driver's license was suspended for 90 days.
He was released from custody, and will appear in Picton Provincial Court on June 7th.
