Possible walk-out from Community Living OPSEU employees





Workers who provide services to people with developmental disabilities in east Northumberland County could walk off the job this week.

Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, who are employed by Community Living Campbellford-Brighton, have opened a strike headquarters in Campbellford, and might take labour action at midnight Tuesday night.

OPSEU Local 3-16 Chief Steward Courtney Huycke says the bargaining team reached a tentative two-year agreement, retroactive to March, 2016, during contract talks with the employer on Monday, and the 44 full time and 52 part time workers will vote on the deal on Tuesday.

The union is making no recommendation to the employees, and the vote results are expected on Tuesday evening.

Huycke says Community Living is offering a wage increase of .75 % over the life of the contract..
