Local unemployment rates remain lowest in Ontario
Hastings and Prince Edward Counties and other parts of eastern Ontario still have the lowest jobless rate in the province.
Statistics Canada says the unemployment number in the two counties, along with Lennox and Addington, Frontenac and Renfrew Counties, increased from 4 % in January to 4.5 % last month.
However, that figure is still the smallest of any economic region in Ontario.
Ottawa and London were next, at 5 %, with Muskoka-Kawarthas and Kitchener-Waterloo-Barrie following them, at 5.6 %.
The 4.5 % jobless rate in the local area was also down significantly from 7.3 % in February, 2016.
