LHIN provides additional funding for local hip and knee surgeries
Additional funding has been approved for hospitals in this part of the province to reduce wait times for hip and knee surgeries and other procedures.
The South East LHIN Board of Directors will release 1.5-million dollars so that hospitals can provide 113 more surgeries, six-hundred M-R-I's and 1,940 C-T Scans.
The one-time funding, to be used this fiscal year, will help hospitals improve care to patients who face long wait lists.
Hospitals across Southeastern Ontario are also implementing a Centralized Intake and Assessment Centre for hip and knee surgeries in 2017-18, helping ensure a patient is quickly assessed and referred to a surgeon.
