INGRID’S FAVOURITE THINGS: Thoughtful gifts mean even more
Thoughtful. The dictionary defines this as showing careful consideration or attention. A lot of us search for the perfect Christmas gift. A gift that truly reflects what we are feeling. How about a gift that gives back?
I stopped into Kimberley's Deja Vu Boutique in the Sommerville Centre to pick up these socks.(Yes I bought them for myself!) These are going to come in handy Christmas day after I have slaved over the turkey dinner.
When the family sees the bottom of my feet reclined in my easy chair I hope they do bring me a glass of wine! (They also have ones for beer lovers.)
Now the giving back part: proceeds from the sale of these socks go to Fixed Fur Life. It is a charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, spaying and neutering of the stray and abandoned animals in the Quinte Community.
***Horses and Hot men. A calendar that gives back? YES!
Quinte St. Lawrence Branch of the Canadian Amateur Owners and Riders Association is a non-profit. The group has partnered with "Go and Play Stable" which rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes horses.
A beautiful calendar featuring local men with stunning horses.
What a way to bring in 2017!
***How about beautiful pewter ornaments to dress up a present or as a gift to put with a gift card.
Steve Marshman of Steve Marshman Fine Jewellery and Custom Design has been designing holiday ornaments for years.
The first three are still available at his store in the Sommerville Centre and proceeds support the Military Family Resource Centre. To date over $3,000 has been donated.
This year Steve has designed a new "Peace" ornament and they are taking suggestions as to which charity will benefit from the proceeds of this ornament and the 2 following ornaments in this "Unity" series.
So drop in and pick one up and suggest a charity to benefit.
The Belleville General Hospital Foundation has a large tree set up at the Quinte Mall. Donate to their Angel Campaign, write a message to a loved one and see your angel hanging from the tree during the Christmas Season.
Help make care better for everyone in our community
