FAVOURITE THINGS: Give to help others

It is a topic I hear every holiday season...what to buy for that person that has everything.  Especially parents or grandparents who tell us not to buy them anything because they have enough stuff.

But we know we aren't going to be the kid that shows up empty handed.

So here are a few ideas of gifts that keep on giving.

***

Adopt An Acre of Quinte Conservation land for $20 and help preserve and protect natural heritage lands. You can adopt an acre for yourself, in memory of a loved one or as a gift.

You will receive a certificate and a tax receipt. If you adopt 2 acres you will receive a plush chipmunk.

I have had the privilege of meeting Dr. Janarthanan Kankesan.

Dr. Kankesan is the newest Medical Oncologist at QHC and such a wonderful caring doctor for patients battling cancer.

He is a Belleville General Hospital Foundation Christmas Angel.

He works every day to improve cancer care for patients across the entire QHC region. Help him by donating and becoming an angel at www.bghf.ca/angel

Every child deserves to sleep in a safe bed. Make sure that happens by supporting the Children's Foundations "Sleep Safe Baby Program". Many families in our community cannot afford the costs of cribs and crib mattresses for their infants. As a result, babies sleep on couches, adult beds, or in other inappropriate and unsafe sleeping arrangements.

As of Dec. 11, the United Way of Quinte  was at $1,385,365 or 66 per cent of  its $2,100,000 goal. Help support the organization and all the agencies it supports.

Make a donation by going to www.unitedwayofquinte.ca

So many great organizations in our community. So many ways to give back and really isn't that what the holidays are all about?
