CHEAP SEATS: Electricity users can relate to Smith blowing his top

Even these days there is something to be said for decorum, particularly in certain circumstances where things like civility and manners not only belong but are paramount.

Then again, sometimes enough is just enough.

Clearly Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith hit that wall earlier this week when he lost it on the governing Liberals during a Legislative session at Queen’s Park.

The source of his outrage was advertising put out by the Liberals celebrating reductions to Hydro bills that haven’t been approved yet by Queen’s Park.

For years Smith has been chasing the Liberals trying to get them to, first, acknowledge there was a problem with electricity rates and second do something to fix it.

When they finally acknowledge Ontario residents are paying too much for electricity and take a modest step to fix the problem, they follow it up by spending those same residents’ tax dollars to brag about it.

It’s enough to make even the most laid back opposition MPP blow a bit of a gasket.

Knowing Todd Smith, he probably isn’t particularly proud of losing his cool like he did.

But that’s OK, because a lot of people paying electricity bills in Ontario can appreciate exactly how he felt.
