CHEAP SEATS: Angels gala more than just fundraising, thanks
On the surface The Children’s Foundation Guardian Angel Gala looks like just most fundraising events.
But it’s not. Not really.
Yes, it is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event of the year, raising tens of thousands of dollars for projects, camps and education programs.
But it is also a tribute to someone in the community, often times a couple, who have gone above and beyond, usually for several years, to help the organization, in a variety of ways.
And even then, it is a little bit more than that.
Because while the gala raises money and says thank you to its Angels, it also reminds those in attendance that they are all angels just by being there, and that everyone who gives, even a little bit, makes a difference in the lives of children who need every little bit of help they can get.
It also reminds people that everyone who gives is an angel for these children, and that it is always possible to give a little more, to do a little more, for people who deeply need the help.
In other words, this gala is about more than raising money, it’s about more than saying thank you.
It’s about inspiring the rest of us to do a little more, and maybe some of us to do much more. so that someday we earn the privilege of being called angels as well.
