Campbellford jazz ensemble gets the gold
It is another honour for the multiple award-winning Senior Jazz Ensemble at Campbellford District High School.
The students are heading to the Musicfest Canada Nationals in May after capturing gold at the Southern Ontario Regionals in Oshawa last month.
Adjudicator Neil Yorke-Slader, the head of Musicfest Canada's instrumental jazz division, complimented the group after its performance, which had elements of world music, jazz and rock, for being "exciting and willing to take risks."
MusicFest Canada, founded in 1972, is North American's largest educational music festival.
The annual event brings together more than 10,000 of Canada's finest young musicians who perform for recognition as the country's foremost musical ensembles.
The 2017 Nationals will be held in Niagara Falls from May 14th to 19th.
