Belleville man sentenced for sexual assault and child pornography offences




A Belleville man convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls and producing child pornography has been sentenced to an additional time in jail.
 
Michael Tregunna, 44, who pled guilty in Belleville Provincial Court on February 17th to sexual assault, sexual interference and making available child pornography, was handed a four-year prison sentence on Wednesday..

A court official says he was given credit for 345 days pre-sentence custody, and was also ordered to provide a sample to the National D-N-A Data Bank.
 
Tregunna's name will be on the National Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life, he is prohibited for 20 years from being in parks and other public places where children could be present, and he faces a 10-year weapons ban.
 
He was arrested by Belleville Police in May, 2016 after officers investigated a complaint about two girls being sexually assaulted, and he was charged again in late September after evidence of child pornography was found by police at a home in the west end of the city.
