Belleville man convicted in connection with armed robbery
A Belleville man has been convicted in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store and another incident.
A court official says 20-year-old Tyler Drake pled guilty in Belleville Provincial Court on Wednesday to two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance, and one count each of robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to appear in court.
He was arrested on October 4th, 2016 after Belleville Police responded to a report of three men, armed with knives, threatening people in the Front Street area, and officers chased down a suspect carrying a large knife.
Drake was also charged on December 27th after a man wearing a disguise and carrying a knife, demanded money from the clerk at a convenience store in the west end of the city, but left empty handed.
Sentencing is set for July 6th.
