Annual Mohawk Landing Celebration
Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte invite the public to The Annual Mohawk Landing Re-enactment and Celebration.
Tyendinaga is considered the "birthplace of the Peacemaker" who brought the original Five Nations Iroquois Confederacy under a constitution of peace in the 12th Century (Great Law of Peace). Eagle Hill, located in Tyendinaga, is said to be where the Peacemaker, Tekanawita was born. Read more about the Mohawk culture.
Join in the celebration of the Landing on the Bay of Quinte, Saturday May 20 beginning at 10am with the Re-enactment of the Landing across from 353 Bayshore Rd. Enjoy lunch at the Community Centre on York Road, taking in historical displays. Guest speaker Tom Porter takes the stage at 1:30pm. Celebrations, including a children's craft continue until 7 pm.
Sunday May 21 begins with a church service celebrating the Landing on the Bay of Quinte, Lunch at 12:30, Historical displays and more. A children's craft and presentation by Darren Bonaparte begins at 2 p.m.
