Shirley Vera Hurst, 1925-2016

Shirley Very Hurst, (nee Kerr), born September 13, 1925, passed away quietly at the Trenton Memorial Hospital, secure in the love of her family on August 7, 2016 at the age of 90.

Deeply missed by her husband of 72 years Gerald, daughter Lesley Simla (nee Hurst) and her husband Ekkehard. Her family was her greatest joy, Michael and Melissa, her adored grandchildren, and their partners Tracy Ford and Ross Le Quesne, and great grandsons Kai and Zac. Nephews Steven, Mathew and Andrew Kerr, and their partners Alise, Christine and Kitty, and children Alex, Heather, Meghan and Michael will never forget her love.

The Hurst Clan, Ron and Joyce and their children, nieces and nephews, Susan, Nancy, Steve, Doug, their spouses and children will all miss her and the delight she took in celebrating all family milestones, particularly the arrival of babies.

Shirley was born on Willow Avenue in Toronto, living there and in Scarborough almost all her life. She will be remembered for her many passions. She lived for art and painting, an activity she maintained despite physical handicaps.

“Nan” as she was fondly known, had a heart that encompassed everyone.
